Linux server installer

One command installs Janus as a service with HTTPS, so one VM can run a production gateway.

What it is

One command installs Janus as a systemd service with HTTPS on port 443 and a redirect from port 80. janus-ctl manages certificates, status, upgrades and uninstall.

A small team can have a production-shaped gateway on one VM in minutes, without Kubernetes.

How it works

  • Runs as an unprivileged janus user; verifies the archive against SHA256SUMS
  • Creates the first administrator while listening only on loopback
  • Self-signed, your own, or Let's Encrypt (ACME HTTP-01) certificates
  • Upgrade backs up a SQLite database first; no-sudo --user mode for laptops
