What it is

Alert rules notify people about quota warnings and breaches, unreachable upstreams and system events, in the app, by webhook or by email. The reference deployment also ships Prometheus alert rules for infrastructure signals.

The right person hears about a quota breach or a provider outage before users start complaining.

How it works

  • Rule triggers: quota at 80%, quota at 95%, quota breached, upstream unreachable, system events, or everything.
  • Each rule picks its channels: in-app is always on, webhooks need a URL, and email needs SMTP (JANUS_SMTP_HOST).
  • The bundled Prometheus rules cover gateway down, upstream errors, latency, quota breaches, database replication lag and spikes in policy rejections.
  • Alertmanager in the Compose monitoring profile sends infrastructure alerts by email or webhook.
